Our client, a proudly South Australian-owned designer, manufacturer, and installer of light gauge steel framing solutions, is entering an exciting phase of expansion. As they expand operations to meet this demand, they are building a team that shares their values of quality, innovation, and care for people.
With the recent introduction of a second production shift and a growing pipeline of residential and commercial projects, they are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their Finance team on a part-time or full-time basis (0.6 – 1.0 FTE). This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a business that is expanding rapidly and committed to investing in its people.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager and working closely with key internal stakeholders, you will provide a range of accounting services to support the financial operations of the business. This is a hands-on role assisting with daily accounting functions and financial reporting, requiring strong attention to detail, sound financial knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Processing and reconciling credit card and bank transactions and statements.
- Assisting with payroll general ledger journal postings, reconciliations, and reporting of divisional wage costs.
- Preparing and posting journal entries for month-end and year-end closing.
- Reconciling general ledger accounts.
- Assisting with job costing and customer billing projections.
- Preparing BAS, payroll tax, FBT returns, workcover reconciliations, and other statutory reporting.
- Undertaking weekly debtor reporting and monthly debtor statement runs.
- Following up unpaid debtor invoices with customers.
- Assisting with creditor and debtor transaction processing and inventory transaction processing.
- Undertaking weekly supplier payments.
- Supporting the outsourced payroll & HR functions and assisting with payroll processing review.
- Assisting with wage subsidy claims and other ad hoc tasks as required.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce, or related field (or near completion).
- 2+ years’ experience in an accounting or finance support role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and reconciliation processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage non-financial stakeholders.
- Proactive, reliable, and adaptable with a strong work ethic and analytical mindset.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Desirable
- Experience with MYOB Exo Business and MYOB Exo Job Costing
- Experience in construction or manufacturing industries
- Progress towards CPA or CA qualification
