Payroll Officer

6 – 12 month fixed term contract with a view to permanency for a savvy payroller who is looking for a supportive and collaborative team.

Our Client

Our client has a significant national footprint and a strong market share. Their highly scalable business model has successfully supported growth, and this is underpinned by an impressive and talented team. They employee approximately 1000x people nationally and with further growth on the horizon a rare opportunity now exists for a dedicated Payroll Officer to join the organisation on a 6 – 12-month fixed term basis with the potential for permanency thereafter.

The Role

Reporting to the Payroll Manager and working closely with key internal stakeholders, you will be responsible for the efficient, compliant, and timely processing of payroll for a diverse group of employees across multiple sites.

Duties will include:

  • Managing a set payroll of 250x employees – including ensuring all timesheets are correctly uploaded and approved
  • Ensuring that the EA and applicable awards have been correctly applied
  • Managing any exceptions across the fortnightly pay run and following up with the appropriate employee and Manager to verify overtime and penalty rates
  • Calculating termination payments as well as other entitlements
  • Uploading the payroll file for approval and payment
  • Completing ad hoc payroll reporting on your pay run as per the request of the Payroll Manager
  • Responding to queries relating to your pay run via the payroll inbox in a timely manner
  • Assisting with process improvement tasks and special projects to further enhance the function

About You 

  • Previous experience working in a payroll position where you’ve had to manage complex awards (ideally nationally)
  • Happy to initially commit to a contract role with a view to extend
  • Tech savvy and previous experience with larger payroll systems will be highly regarded
  • High-level attention to detail and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine customer service approach
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion
