General Manager – Finance & Commercial

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic General Manager – Finance & Commercial to join this well-established organisation on a full-time, permanent basis.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be instrumental in driving the financial and operational success of the company. This pivotal role not only involves overseeing the financial health of the business but also leading core operational functions across Supply Chain, Project Management, and Site Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the financial strategy and operations of the business, ensuring robust financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting
  • Take full ownership of financial decision-making, optimising cost control, profitability, and operational efficiency
  • Guide the company through a period of transition by taking over operational and financial leadership as the part time CFO exits
  • Develop and maintain advanced financial models to provide key insights into cashflow, project costs, and operational performance
  • Champion data-driven decisions, utilising financial analysis to inform key business strategies and investments
  • Partner with senior leaders to streamline operations, implement cost tracking systems, and enhance departmental performance
  • Oversee the legal review process for contracts, ensuring alignment with company policies, financial goals, and risk requirements
  • Manage end-to-end supply chain processes, optimising procurement strategies and supplier relationships, with a focus on sourcing materials from China
  • Provide strong leadership, mentoring, and management to the finance, procurement, and operations teams, ensuring alignment and efficiency
  • Implement best practices in financial systems and operational procedures across the business to facilitate scalability and growth
  • Collaborate closely with the CEO and leadership team on long-term strategic planning, focusing on market expansion and profitability

About You

We are seeking a values-driven leader with strategic foresight and a proven ability to influence and collaborate across departments. You will bring a strong background in financial management, with a deep understanding of budgeting, reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management. Your experience should include overseeing commercial functions like procurement, supply chain, and operations, and ideally, you have a track record in managing legal matters and contracts. Previous experience in senior financial leadership roles within manufacturing, construction, or project-driven environments will be highly regarded.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Finance, Business, or a related field; CA/CPA membership is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial strategy, reporting, and business forecasting
  • Proven leadership in commercial functions such as procurement, operations, or supply chain
  • Experience in managing legal and risk matters, including contract review and compliance
  • Senior financial leadership experience in project-driven industries such as manufacturing or construction
